Hip Hop Awards

Rapmesinjah holds a defining place in the history of UK Hip Hop. As the pioneers behind the first-ever UK Hip Hop Awards, held between 2000 and 2001, we were among the first to recognise and celebrate the growing movement of homegrown Hip Hop talent.

At a time when the UK scene was still fighting for visibility, the Awards provided a national platform for artists, producers, and creatives who were shaping a new cultural sound. The event brought together some of the most respected names in the community and helped cement the foundation of what would become a powerful and enduring musical legacy.

To further document and celebrate this movement, Rapmesinjah produced the UK Hip Hop Awards Magazine, offering an authentic voice for the scene and chronicling its evolution from the streets to the stage.

In 2002, we released the compilation album Rapmesinjah Presents: UK Hip Hop Awards, a landmark project capturing the sound and spirit of a generation. Recently re-released as Rapmesinjah Vol. 1, the album remains available through all major digital download stores — a testament to the timeless quality of the music and the culture it represents.
